Hiking Guides testing newly marked trails of Samtskhe-Javakheti
Samtskhe-Javakheti DMO organised a second info-tour to promote ecotourism potential and raise awareness of hiking trails in the region.
Hiking guides covered Levani Lake Trail Network. The Trail Network of Levani Lake consists of 5 one-way routes, which meet at Levani lake. Nestled at an altitude of 2565 meters amongst the vibrant volcanic mountains of the Abul-Samsari Range, the transparent, bluish-coloured glacial lake blends in perfectly with the volcanic terrain, rocky slopes, and grassy meadows. The northern shore of Levani lake works as a suitable camping site. From this point, any one-way route out of 5 can be selected to go back.
The tour was organised in the framework of the project “Mountain and Eco-Tourism Development in Samtskhe-Javakheti Region” which is implemented by DMO within the US Embassy DemCom Small Grants Program. The project started in 2020 and envisages marking trails, capacity building and marketing activities.
