Meeting of Georgian DMOs

Two-day working meeting of Georgian Destination Management Organizations was held in Tbilisi on 25-26 of July.
 
The working session covered the topics such as DMO experience sharing, ongoing projects and achievements, and current activities happening in each DMO. One of the main aims of the meeting was to discuss the newly initiated draft law on tourism in Georgia. The representatives agreed to make such kinds of events recurring.
 
Tamar Koriauli, the First Deputy Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, Tamar Maisuradze, the Head of the Department of Tourism Product and Small-Scale Infrastructure Development, and Nino Panjakidze, the Head of the Legal Department also attended the meetings. Irakli Gelovani, the representative from the USAID Economic Governance Program who is involved in the drafting of the tourism law of Georgia made the presentation about the entry in law about the DMOs.
 
The workshop envisaged sharing the best practices from Western countries, in particular, Florian Van der Bellen, the former head of one of the DMOs of Austria made a presentation and engaged in the discussion afterwards.
 
The meeting was held with the support of project GRETA which is co-funded by the EU and two EU member states Sweden and Austria.
