Birding

Birdwatching is becoming more and more popular in Georgia, and the Samtskhe-Javakheti region is the best place for this activity. If you are keen on observing vegetation and animal life, love photography, then Javakheti Protected Areas are perfect for you.

In Javakheti, there are an abundance of lake passes, which function as a key migratory route for wild birds. More than 270 species of birds are registered in Javakheti, which covers 75% of Georgia’s bird population. The best period for birdwatching is from May until September.

Right now, the main institution that provides birding opportunities in the area is Javakheti Protected Areas. For more information, you can refer to the Visitor Center of Javakheti Protected Areas.
