Kartsakhi lake

Straddling the Turkish-Georgian border Kartsakhi is the second largest lake in Georgia. With a high salinity, Kartsakhi Lake is considered an alkaline lake. A perfect place for bird watchers, the lake is home to the Dalmatian Pelican, the great white Pelican, and one of the largest populations of Eurasian Eagle-Owl. Visitors can enjoy a 3-km hike that takes them to a picnic area and bird watching tower with information about the local species. The lake also provides unforgettable opportunities for those who wish to fish. It is located in the Akhalkalaki municipality and is part of Javakheti Protected Areas.
